Austin Root is the Chief Investment Officer of Stansberry Asset Management (or SAM) and is responsible for the development and management of investment strategies across all SAM portfolios. Prior to joining SAM, Austin was the Director of Research at Stansberry Research and the portfolio manager for the company’s flagship portfolio products, Stansberry Portfolio Solutions.
Austin co-founded and ran North Oak Capital, a New York-based hedge fund that received a strategic investment from Julian Robertson and Tiger Management. He also held senior investment positions at SAC Capital Advisors and D.F. Dent & Company. Austin began his career at the Blackstone Group.
Austin has experience investing across asset classes, including public equities, derivatives, venture capital, private equity, real estate, and fixed-income securities. He earned an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business, and a BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia.
Christopher DeLaura is the Chief Executive Officer of SAM, an independent registered investment advisory firm that helps its clients reach their investing goals through informed active management. SAM has more than 35 associates serving clients across the country, with employees in TX, NY, MD, CA, AZ, NV, CT, and WA.
Christopher spent half of his 26-year career at UBS in several roles, including working with high net worth families as a Financial Advisor and serving as Director of the firm’s Emerging Affluent Program. After his time at UBS, Christopher joined Westport Resources, a Westport, CT based wealth advisory firm, where he served in a variety of roles including Financial Planner, Portfolio Manager, and Chief Operating Officer. During his tenure at Westport Resources, the firm became recognized as one of Barron’s Top 100 Independent Advisors.
Prior to joining SAM, Christopher spent 6 years at Fieldpoint Private Securities, where he again worked in many capacities, including Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Technology Officer, and President, before being named the Chief Executive Officer for the company in 2020. In 2020, he led the expansion of the business into both the Orlando and Miami areas in Florida, again achieving a Barron’s Top 100 Independent Advisors ranking after growing the firm to over $4 billion in assets under management.
Christopher is an alumnus of New York University’s Stern School of Business. Outside of his work at SAM, Christopher can most often be found spending time with his family.
William is the National Director of Business Development at SAM. He spent the bulk of his early career helping to build a multibillion-dollar private investment firm where he was recognized multiple times for his impact on the growth of the firm. He held a leadership position and played a pivotal role in training and formally mentoring business development representatives.
Just prior to joining SAM, William served as a Managing Director at two different investment firms where he worked with both high-net-worth investors and institutions. During this time he held Series 3, 7, 24, 63 and 65 licenses. William’s background also includes time spent working with private clients at both Bank of the West and Wells Fargo.
William earned degrees in Rhetoric and Communications from the University of California, Davis, served as a Paratrooper in the US Army and competed as a collegiate wrestler earning multiple championships. He is a long-time resident of Sonoma County where he is raising six children and enjoys coaching youth football and wrestling.
As the Director of Wealth Management, Tom is focused on developing and continuously improving the firm’s advisory and financial planning services. He began working with high-net-worth investors back in 2006 at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney. Prior to joining SAM in 2017, Tom worked at BNY Mellon as a Relationship Manager, where he managed high-net-worth client and family office relationships.
Tom is a Series 65 licensed Investment Advisor Representative and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®) professional. He holds a BS in Business Management from San Jose State University and is a San Francisco Bay Area native. Tom currently resides in San Jose, CA with his wife and 3 kids.
As CTO, Sam is responsible for implementing new software technologies across all SAM business units. Before taking this role, he was SAM’s CBDO, guiding the organization through the transition of a new executive leadership team. Prior to joining SAM, he was the COO for MSMF Wealth Management in which he led this St. Louis based team through a period of multi-year growth.
Sam was also the Co-Founder and CIOO for Holistic Wealth Advisors, a NY based wealth management firm. Prior to transitioning, he spent over 15 years in corporate business spending 13 years at GE where he developed operational and strategic leadership skills.
He earned an MS in Business and a BS in Aeronautical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in conjunction with completing his Executive Business studies at MIT’s Sloan School of Management.
As a founding member of SAM, Eamonn joined as COO prior to launch and oversees most aspects of SAM’s day-to-day operations including the trading of client portfolios.
Prior to joining SAM, Eamonn was a head trader for multiple early stage hedge funds, most notably Sabretooth Capital which was an event-driven fund that grew to manage $1 billion in assets. He was responsible for all trading and built the operations to support portfolios that invested in asset classes including equities, derivatives, credit, commodities, and interest rates.
He began his career at Deutsche Bank in the sales and trading operations group on the distressed credit desk and earned a BS in Finance from Boston College.
When not working, Eamonn can be found at home in suburban New York with his wife and two young daughters or on the golf course practicing for an amateur competition.
Jeff has over twenty years of compliance experience, most recently serving as the Chief Compliance Officer of Brite Advisers USA, a New York based RIA that focused on the British Expat space. He has also been affiliated in a compliance capacity with such respected firms as Northstar Wealth Partners, Citigroup, Robotti & Company, Principal Financial, and AXA Advisors. Jeff attended Fairfield University, where he pursued his bachelor’s degree in Finance with a minor in Economics. He holds his FINRA Series 7, 24, 53, 4, 9, 10, 53 and 63 registrations and the Series 65 registration through SAM.
Jeff broke into the business as an Operations Assistant at Alex Brown and Sons, before moving to Institutional Trading as a Trading Assistant. Additional stints as a Futures and Options Floor Trader on the LIFFE and as an Operations Manager at a Regional Broker Dealer gave Jeff the broad based experience in financial services before the migration to Compliance.
In his free time, Jeff is a competitive Masters Swimmer and is a world record holder in his age bracket in the 4 x 200 free relay. A competitive swimmer all his life, Jeff is also a locally and nationally certified Swimming Official. Jeff and his wife, Margaret reside in Trumbull, Connecticut. They have 2 daughters, Elizabeth (BA Seton Hall ’20, MA Sacred Heart ’22) a 4-year varsity swimmer at Seton Hall and current Masters swimmer and Caroline (BS UMBC ’22), a current Graduate student at UMBC and a 4-year varsity swimmer.
Thelma West is a seasoned HR leader and business partner; Thelma has used her strong human resources background and a blend of experience in various positions within the private sector to affect positive change in the organizations where she has worked. Effectively balancing big picture thinking and strategic planning with hands-on execution has allowed Thelma to combine decisiveness, strong business acumen and formal education to achieve objectives both professionally and personally.

Jacob is a Senior Investment Analyst at SAM. He is responsible for sourcing investment opportunities through fundamental research and analysis, as well as monitoring existing investments across SAM’s portfolios.
Prior to joining SAM, Jacob was an Analyst at Stansberry Research, primarily specializing in small and mid-cap growth opportunities and contributing to a range of products including Stansberry Venture Value and Stansberry’s Investment Advisory. He was previously an Analyst with the Special Situations & Risk Arbitrage group at Berenberg Capital Markets. Jacob holds a BS in Management and a Master of Finance degree, both from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University.
Bethany is Vice President of Client Onboarding at SAM. She specializes in working closely with new SAM relationships, providing guidance and assistance throughout the enrollment process. Bethany joined SAM during their first month of business and was an integral part of SAM’s Operations Team for several years before transitioning into her current role.
Prior to joining SAM, Bethany was a Client Associate at Pershing Advisor Solutions where she worked on the custodial side of Registered Investment Advisor business. She began her career as an underwriter for Hartford Financial Products.
Bethany earned a BS in Business Administration with concentrations in International Business and Marketing from Northeastern University. She lives and works in New York City.
Meghan is an Operations Enrollment Lead at SAM. Her tasks include prepping enrollment documents for new clients, funding reporting, and working various client cases.
Prior to joining SAM, Meghan was in retail banking at The Adirondack Trust Company. There she worked for a number of years as a Head Teller Supervisor, and most recently in the loan operations department primarily focusing on Mortgage/Home Equity closings.
Meghan received her Bachelor’s in Music Performance with a concentration in Jazz from SUNY New Paltz. She currently lives in Saratoga Springs, NY with her partner. In her free time, she loves to hike, spend time in her garden, and make music.
Tom is a Senior Vice President at SAM. He has over 27 years in the business with the vast majority of his experience advising Ultra High Net-worth clients as a fiduciary. The early part of his career was helping grow a now multibillion dollar investment firm where he earned numerous accolades and recognitions. His reputation within the industry has taken him from the Family Office space in Florida to Private Equity for a national firm focusing on single and multi-family holdings.
Prior to joining SAM, Tom served as Head of Investor Relations and Senior Vice President where he advised and consulted with wealthy investors and institutions. During this time he held his Series, 7, 63, and 65 licenses.
Tom earned his degree in Business with an Emphasis in Finance from Chapman University in Orange CA and is a highly decorated Navy flyer having flown 67 combat missions off the USS Ranger (CV-61) during Operation Desert Storm. He currently resides in Winter Park Florida and enjoys water sports and tennis.
Shannon is a Client Service Associate – Team Lead at SAM. She is responsible for facilitating client’s operational requests such as asset movement and account updates.
Prior to joining SAM, Shannon managed the New Accounts Team at one of the nation’s largest credit unions. She was pivotal in shaping their policies and procedures through their milestone growth past 10 Billion in AUM.
After Shannon attended Southern New Hampshire University and the University of New Hampshire majoring in Accounting, she entered the financial world quickly working her way up from teller to a branch management role in both commercial banking and credit unions.
Vincent is a Trader and Senior Analyst at SAM. His duties include executing trades for SAM portfolios, providing research support to the CIO, and monitoring the market as well as portfolio positions.
Prior to joining SAM, Vincent was a Data Analyst at Sculptor Capital Management (F.K.A. Och-Ziff Capital Management). Vincent began his career as an Asset Servicing Analyst at Goldman Sachs.
He earned a BS in Business Management, concentrating in Finance, from Babson College. He lives and works in New York City.
Corey is a Junior Investment Consultant at SAM. His primary role is to help new clients through the onboarding process. Corey received his B.A. in Economics from Syracuse University. Upon graduation, he started his professional career in retail banking compliance, and quickly transitioned into residential real estate appraising.
He currently resides in Saratoga Springs. In his free time, he loves to golf, travel with family/friends, and be active.
In Chris’s role as a Senior Wealth Manager, he focuses exclusively on client relations and is dedicated to bringing a high level of service. Throughout his career he has worked closely with both institutional and individual investors.
Chris worked for Prudential Securities in New York before leaving to pursue his MBA in Finance & International Business from Tulane University in 1996. Upon completion of his MBA, Chris moved to San Francisco where he joined Fisher Investments as an Investment Consultant managing high net worth client accounts totaling over $200 million in assets. Following that he worked at Silicon Valley Bank in their Institutional Assets Management Group developing and managing client relations for venture funded corporations.
Prior to joining SAM, Chris was a Senior Investment Advisor and member of the Investment Policy Committee with MCM Wealth, a regional Register Investment Advisor. Chris is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®) professional and holds a Series 65 license. He resides in Mill Valley with his wife and daughter where he enjoys tennis, biking, hiking, and spending time with his family.
Gregory is a Trading Assistant at SAM. His day to day includes collaborating with and providing support for the Trading Team, as well as the Operations Team. Prior to joining SAM, Gregory was an Investment Operations Analyst at Loomis, Sayles & Company.
Gregory earned a BS in Finance with a minor in Economics from West Virginia University. He recently completed his master’s degree in Financial Management from Pace University in New York City.
Michael is a Portfolio Manager and Deputy Chief Investment Officer at Stansberry Asset Management. His duties include sourcing investment opportunities and conducting ongoing due diligence across SAM’s portfolios. Michael co-manages our Income and Tactical Select strategies.
Prior to joining SAM, Michael worked with high-net-worth private clients for the largest independent wealth management firm in the United States. He was also a senior analyst for one of the largest investment-grade bond managers in America. Michael joined SAM in 2017.
Michael’s investment thinking has been featured in dozens of articles published in Fortune, Kiplinger, Advisor Perspectives, and the Stansberry Digest. He is also the author of a soon-to-be-released book on closed-end funds.
Michael holds an MBA from the University of California, Davis and a BA from San Francisco State University where he majored in History. He earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter in 2017.
Michael currently resides in Arizona with his wife and two children. He serves as a Board Member for Copper State Credit Union and is an Advisory Board Member for the Arizona Council on Economic Education.
Peter Mahony is a Business Development Representative at SAM. His time is spent identifying prospective clients who can benefit from SAM’s services and obtain their financial goals. Peter earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Auburn University’s Harbert School of Business. In his free time, Peter enjoys playing golf, tennis, and spending time with friends and family.
In Katie’s role as the Director of Institutional Business Development & Marketing, she focuses on driving the growth of our firm through strategic client acquisition, marketing, and effective relationship management within the institutional space.
The early part of her career was spent working with institutional and individual investors at an independent wealth management and financial services firm. Subsequently, she joined a hedge fund where she led Investor Relations efforts, primarily working with institutional investors. She also has experience in the investment banking space, cultivating relationships with investors for growth equity raises in various sectors. Prior to joining SAM, she played a pivotal role in the growth of one of the top SaaS Fintech firms, working exclusively with Asset & Wealth Managers, Banks, Investment Banks, and Insurance Companies.
Katie earned a BA from Denison University. She currently resides in New York and enjoys watching sports, cooking, sailing, and traveling.
Jennifer Ramos-Robinson is the Senior Operations Manager at SAM. She oversees our Operations Team ensuring workflow organization with a focus on providing an overall positive client experience. Jennifer assists in employee development and training, as well as provides expertise direction to help facilitate client requests.
Jennifer has over 15 years of industry experience. Prior to joining SAM in 2017, she worked at Pershing Advisor Solutions as a Client Service Liaison. There she provided retail and retirement support to Registered Investment Advisors. Previously, she worked on the operation teams at Etrade and Morgan Stanley in their cash management departments. Jennifer began her career working as a bank teller at The Provident Bank of New Jersey, while being a full-time college student.
Jennifer holds a BA in Sociology from Fordham University located in New York City, NY. She currently resides in New Jersey with her husband, daughter, and twin sons.
Ken has been in the financial industry for over 15 years. He began his career on a High Yield Institutional Trading desk and then focused on Equity Trading. He worked at William O’ Neil and at TD Ameritrade helping grow both Retail and Institutional partnerships. Ken also worked as a Registered Investment Advisor and helped high net worth clients with portfolio strategies and long-term planning.
Ken moved to the Bay area to enjoy great hiking and outdoor adventures.
Jared is a Wealth Manager at SAM. He started working with clients in 2014 as a Financial Planning Consultant at Northwestern Mutual. Prior to joining SAM, Jared worked as a Financial Solutions Advisor at Merrill Edge and as a Financial Advisor at Bank of the West.
Jared currently holds his Series 65 and has passed Level I of the Charter Financial Analyst examination. Jared graduated Distinction MSc. International Relations at the London School of Economics and Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in Political Science at the University of California, Los Angeles.
Jared lives in Reno, Nevada, and is based out of our San Mateo office in California.
Claire Snider, Manager of Marketing & Project Management at SAM, thrives in a dynamic role, leading and coordinating marketing initiatives while ensuring the execution of strategic projects. Collaborating across teams, she seamlessly integrates projects and marketing efforts, overseeing campaigns and executing events aligned with marketing and business development goals.
Previously, Claire served as a Client Service Manager at Moneta Group, where she worked directly with partners and advisers on diverse projects to meet client needs and handled day-to-day client relationships.
Claire, a Series 65 licensed Investment Advisor Representative, and a Certified Digital Marketing Professional (CDMP) and AMA Professional Certified Marketer (PCM) in Digital Marketing, holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Kansas. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, traveling, and quality time with friends, family, and her two dogs. Recently making Dallas her home, Claire brings her passion and expertise to SAM’s vibrant marketing and project management endeavors.
Jeff is a Wealth Manager at SAM. He first started working with financial clients in 2014 at Citizens Investment Services. Prior to joining SAM, he worked at Tailored Wealth Solutions as a Planning Associate, where he provided financial planning and ongoing service to high net worth clients and business owners.
Jeff has a bachelor’s degree from the Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy at SUNY Albany in Political Science and Economics. He lives in Saratoga Springs, New York with his wife and two young children, and works in our upstate New York office.
George is a Controller at SAM responsible for all aspects of accounting for SAM. George has over 20 years of accounting experience, most recently as Chief Financial Officer with LRG Venture Inc, which owned multiple subsidiary vehicles including a startup RIA that he assisted in opening.
George began his career with Deloitte as an auditor focused on alternative investments before continuing to McKinsey Investment Office. From there, George was VP leading the accounting team at Citigroup Fixed Income Alternatives managing $30 billion in AUM through 10 investment funds. George worked with KPMG as Senior Manager and Head of Accounting Services, leading a team in providing accounting, outsourced CFO, payroll and tax services. He has a M.S. in accounting from Saint John’s University and a CPA license.
Kim strives to provide the best service to her clients at SAM in her role as a Senior Wealth Manager with a holistic financial approach to meeting her clients’ needs. Prior to joining SAM, she was a Vice President Client Advisor at JP Morgan Bank and VP Banker in JP Morgan Private Bank. She began her career as a financial advisor at Morgan Stanley where she earned her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification while advising clients and serving on the investment committee on a team managing $2B in assets. She has experience serving both high net worth and ultra-high net worth investors. In addition to the CFP®, Kim has earned her CDFA®, an accreditation for professionals who provide in-depth financial analysis and advice to attorneys and couples relating to divorce.
Kim graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Finance degree from Sam Houston State University and earned her CFP® certification after attending University of Georgia for post-graduate studies. She is a New Yorker by way of Houston and Atlanta.
Ty Trosky is the Business Development Representative Team Lead at SAM. His day is spent working closely with other members of the business development team identifying investors from across the country that could benefit from SAM’s services. He has received a major in finance and a minor in real estate from the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University. He spends his free time reading, listening to music, and going to sport events.
Emily Troumbley works on the SAM Operations Team. Her focus is on processing incoming paperwork and initiating accounts for clients.
Prior to SAM, Emily worked for M&T Bank as a Licensed Branch Manager and for TD Bank as a licensed Financial Services Associate. She earned her Associates Degree in Accounting from Hudson Valley Community College, and is on her way to finishing up her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at SNHU.
When Emily is not working, she enjoys spending time with her 2 sons and traveling.
Mario is a Portfolio Manager and Deputy Chief Investment Officer at Stansberry Asset Management (SAM). He is responsible for sourcing and monitoring positions across the firm’s strategies, while also serving as a principal spokesperson for the team’s investment philosophy with clients.
Prior to joining SAM, Mario was the Director of Investment Grade Research at Zazove Associates, a multi-billion dollar investment firm specializing in convertible securities management. He was previously a Senior Credit Analyst at Sandelman Partners, a multi-strategy hedge fund focused on fixed income relative-value investing. Mario started his buy-side asset management career with Citadel in 2001, where he was one of the first credit research analysts hired into the Convertible Arbitrage group.
Mario holds a BA from Stanford University where he majored in Economics. He has also completed graduate-level coursework in Statistics & Data Science at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mario earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter in 2011, and currently serves on the Board for the CFA Society of San Francisco.
Adrienne is an Operations Specialist and Anti-Money Laundering Officer at SAM. She is in charge of maintaining client account information and assists in various operational activities including asset movements. Adrienne is focused on providing all clients with a comfortable and efficient experience.
Adrienne received her A.A.S. in Paralegal Studies and was given the Academic Achievement Award. Adrienne furthered her education by earning a Business Analytics certificate from Cornell University, as well as becoming a globally recognized Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) through the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists.
Adrienne and her family live in Upstate New York. In her free time, she volunteers with Eddy Alzheimer’s Association and as a lector at her church. Adrienne also enjoys spending time with her friends, dining at new (to her) restaurants, and going to music concerts.
Ryan Walker began his career in the financial services industry during the bear market of 2008, helping investors navigate a challenging economic environment. Before joining SAM, he served as an Associate Financial Planner at Prosperity Wealth Planning. Ryan also spent approximately eight years with Fisher Investments, where he supported clients in achieving their financial and retirement goals.
Ryan holds a bachelor’s degree in Operations Management with a concentration in Finance from Bridgewater State University in Massachusetts. He is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP®) professional.
Originally from the Boston area, Ryan has called the West Coast home since 2013. He resides in Southwest Washington state with his daughter and partner. In his free time, Ryan enjoys hiking in the gorge, boating along the Columbia River, and exploring diverse cuisines and cultures around the world.
Maurice is a Senior Wealth Manager at SAM. He is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the client experiences, as well as effectively communicating SAM’s investment strategy to clients. With over 19 years of experience in the investment industry, Maurice has developed a deep understanding of investment strategy and portfolio construction, enabling him to provide exceptional service to SAM’s clients.
Prior to joining SAM, he has held various positions at E*TRADE Financial, Lord Abbett & Co and Elim Consulting Group. Maurice developed expertise in investment strategy and portfolio construction while working with advisers, banks, consultants, family offices and private clients, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the investment landscape and the needs of different types of investors.
Maurice holds a BA in International Affairs from The George Washington University, the Elliott School of International Affairs.
Kasheia brings a wealth of experience to her career in financial services. With a background at top firms like Vanguard, LPL Financial, Wells Fargo, and BB&T, she specialized in assisting clients in opening investment accounts, facilitating asset transfers, navigating banking operations, and resolving loan delinquencies. She holds FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses, a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from North Carolina Wesleyan College, and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Financial Analytics at the University of Dallas.
Originally from eastern North Carolina, Kasheia now calls Dallas home. There, she balances her career with raising two children, and in her spare time, enjoys reading about astronomy and physics, binge watching sci-fi, writing poetry and exploring the vibrant city of Dallas.
